It’s the culmination of your first week at Exeter, the last hung over stop after a week of partying and free society trials. Here’s how to tackle the hordes of societies who will be doing their best to secure your membership this Saturday…
First of all, take your time. There is no rush to join every society you want to on the day itself. Make sure you have a think about it first. You can always buy your membership from the Guild Website later.
Secondly, be selective. You don’t want to spend your first month’s food budget on societies you will probably never go to, but seemed like a good idea at the time.
Don’t get carried away. Speaking from personal experience, don’t make an impulse decision to buy pricey savings cards you will never use…
Freebies. Make sure you take full advantage of the Domino’s pizza and all the sweets and stationary on offer.
Talk to the people on each stand that takes your interest… but don’t join a society just because you have a crush on the head of the committee.
Keep these tips in mind on Saturday, and you are sure to have a successful fresher’s fair!
