Awarded 2012 Museum of the Year, Exeter’s RAMM museum is looking for ambassadors!
“RAMMbassadors will research and develop their own interpretation of artefacts and specimens on display that appeal to them. They will present their interpretation to visitors as a live presentation in the gallery – a short soapbox session – and a recording for the RAMM website.”
The Ramm are particularly looking for students, and the scheme may be of particular interest to History, Archaeology and Classics students.
“Past RAMMbassadors have found that the programme has inspired their third year dissertations and hours spent as a RAMMbassador can count towards the Exeter Award.”
To receive an application form, email firstname.lastname@example.org before 8 October. Applications must be submitted by 15 October 2012. Successful applicants will need to attend an initial briefing at RAMM on Thursday 24 October from 3 to 5pm.
You can also volunteer as a ‘Saint’ at St. Nicholas Priory.
Volunteers will help to devise and run hands-on events to raise the priory’s profile with family visitors and Exeter students.
The priory is a Grade 1 listed building, originally part of Exeter’s first medieval monastery, which later became the Tudor home of a wealthy merchant family. It is now presented as a richly furnished Elizabethan town house.
If you would like to be considered for a place as a Saint please email email@example.com by 8 October 2012. You will receive an application form which you need to email back by 15 October and we will be in touch shortly afterwards.
Applicants must be available for an initial meeting on Thursday 25 October 2pm to 6pm and on 20, 21 and 22 February 2013 to run half-term events. There will also be other regular meetings on Thursday afternoons.
