Join us at McCoys Arcade on Saturday 2nd June for this months Handmade Arcade – Exeter’s Only Regular Indie Art and Makers Fair!
On the 2nd June the celebration of local art that is Handmade Arcade will return for the third time to the West Quarter of Exeter after successfully launcing the project in April. Handmade Arcade will return to fill McCoys Arcade, Fore Street with a hand picked selection of local independent arts and crafts, as well as showcasing some of the city’s best musicians. Providing locals and tourists an alternative to High Street shopping – a chance to peruse a diverse and eclectic range of arts and crafts, buy direct from local makers and artists, be entertained by live music, browse the extensive range of independent shops on Fore Street and have a bite to eat in the magnificent McCoys Cafe. Fore Street is Exeter’s home of Independent creative community and offers a surprising mix of friendly unique shops and businesses.
Handmade Arcade was set up by No Guts No Glory, Exeter’s Independent Clothing and Art shop, based in McCoys Arcade. No Guts No Glory represents a community of artists and offers an outlet for local as well as national up and coming designers. The shop, which relaunched in April this year offers No Guts No Glory’s trademark super-soft organic t-shirts, designed exclusively in-house, as well as an extensive range of specialist books, magazines and locally made indie arts. The shop fittings were all designed and made from reclaimed and found materials by shop owners Nathan Blaker and Hayley Marchant “We had a lot of help from the Fore Street community and friends surrounding the project, it’s great to see so many people embrace and support independent projects in Exeter” said Nathan Blaker, who launched No Guts No Glory in 2009 with just £300 and a lot of courage. No Guts No Glory will also be taking some of the South Wests finest artists to The East London Comic and Arts Fair in June where internationally renowned illustrator McBess will be resident artist.
